Due to the pandemic outbreak of COVID-19, art studios or culture-related facilities, such as music halls, theaters, live venues as well as music studios, are facing a severe situation regarding their operation. Especially under the 3Cs (closed, crowded and close-contact settings) criteria, art- and music-related spaces worldwide are confronted with temporarily closures. Although the national and city government have set political measures for securing those spaces, the situation of individual and young artists, who do engage in cultural productions without financial support are unknown. Our online-based joint research project within young researchers from Japan, Germany, and the UK aims to encourage individual artists or small funded creative businesses by investigating the current situation as well as their own creative solutions to maintain their artistic works, based on online interviews conducted on a global scale. We will convey the messages and voices, and will share afterwards how they survive this situation. We strongly believe that our world is still connected through cultural expressions, even under this circumstance.
